Big Announcement from Windsor Based Seldon Technologies

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote. The final tally was 763 (I may be off one or two) which is close to double last year’s turn out. This week we have some very exciting news from one of Windsor’s major employers, Seldon Technologies. I have included their press release announcing an agreement for financing and distribution of their world leading water filtrations system throughout Africa. Congratulations to everyone at Seldon who have been working so diligently in the development of this important technology.

For the last several weeks, I have been talking about our expansion of electronic communication tools. The Town website www.windsorvt.org is new, though still a work in progress, we are on Facebook at Windsor Birthplace of Vermont, and on Twitter at Windsor1777. We are approaching almost 400 electronic subscribers to this e-newsletter. We have gone from 0 to 123 fans on Facebook. This is an important tool for Windsor merchants, organizations and individuals who want to get the word out to Windsorites. Whether a yard sale, or a burger special, or a pot roast supper, a posting here may help your cause. While I am very much a Twitter neophyte, my Windsor Twitter “tweets” have been mentioned in the Valley News and have resulted in two interviews on Vermont Public Radio. Electronic communication and social media will only grow in importance. Windsor will be well represented in all forms. On a side note the Eagle Times, which reports on Windsor news and events is now available on line at http://www.eagletimes.com/

We are still looking for your pictures of Windsor and Windsor events for inclusion on the website.

Windsor Based Seldon Technologies Announces Major Financing & Distribution Agreement
Windsor, VT (March 6, 2012) – Seldon Technologies, Inc., a nanotechnology company based in Windsor, VT, announced today that a wholly owned subsidiary of Econet Wireless Global has signed a significant financing and distribution agreement with Seldon. As part of this funding, Seldon has executed an exclusive distribution agreement with Econet for the distribution of Seldon products in Africa. Seldon CEO Alan Cummings said, “One of Seldon’s goals has been to address the global health crisis that exists as a result of underserved populations drinking contaminated water. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to do something incredibly important – join with our new partner, Econet, to make a difference in the health and wellness of the African people by making more clean drinking water available.” Econet will provide capital to Seldon to continue the manufacturing scale up and commercialization of its novel carbon nanotube based water purification products. Seldon water products represent a fundamental and revolutionary shift away from traditional size exclusion technologies, such as reverse osmosis, and chemical treatment technologies, such as chlorine. Instead, Seldon’s patented technology purifies water by harnessing the enormous adsorptive power of carbon-based nano material in a low cost and easily mass produced NanomeshTM purification medium. Seldon NanomeshTM based products are anticipated to deliver the purification performance of complicated and expensive reverse osmosis(RO)/UV systems without special maintenance requirements; including the removal of bacteria and viruses. Because NanomeshTM can be configured to perform at very low, pressure and does not require electricity it provides tremendous versatility to product designers and supports a wide range of applications. Econet Wireless founder and Chairman Strive Masiyiwa commented, “A strategic focus for Econet is the development and introduction of viable solutions to the dual challenges of clean water and renewable energy supply to people in the developing world. Seldon’s breakthrough Nanomesh technology has the potential to play a major role in the purification of contaminated water globally. We see a great future for Seldon and look forward to working with them as both an investor and as their exclusive distribution partner for Africa.”
Seldon is a world leader in the use of carbon nanotube materials for filtration and separation of fluids, and holds a number of patents for its groundbreaking filtration materials. Seldon’s filtration and separation materials efficiently remove contaminants from fluids without the use of chemicals, radiation, heat or significant pressure or contact time.
