Well It's a Marvelous Night for a Moondance!
Friday, August 17, 2012 at 9:47PM The big news this week is the announcement that MOONDANCE is back and will be held on Friday, October 5th from 5 to 11. I will have more information here as it develops. You can also follow Moondance’s rise here: http://www.moondancevt.com/index.htm Please take notice that this a volunteer effort. Please consider helping or donating.
This week Windsor also launched a new Town webpage. We have been evolving the function and design since early this year and I am sure it will be an ongoing process. The new site offers 2 “doors” on the home page: discover Windsor, and municipal info. The first door is geared to visitors and residents looking for information on what Windsor has to offer: attractions, restaurants, businesses and economic development. The second door focuses on municipal functions such as contact information, board minutes and the like. Find the webpage at our regular address: http://www.windsorvt.org
We are still tinkering with the coding so there may be a glitch or two. If you have a business that you would like featured on our website please contact my office. There is no cost and we can even help with a basic webpage link.
What the hell! I am sure many tuned in to the two night premiere of Hotel Hell this week. I have heard a number of reactions to the show. In my view the town looked good (though they could have given us a little more air time). Our residents that were featured offered a very friendly face and disposition to the viewers. Harpoon looked like a jamming place, and even the inn was depicted as a wonderful historic inn. I think Gordon Ramsay even said it has the potential of being one of the top inns in New England. As we saw however, the innkeepers got absolutely hammered! We will see if the show is a positive or negative for the inn; it will be up to them to make lemonade out of lemons. I do think the town benefited from the exposure. We saw our web traffic increase from around 100 unique visitors a day to over 1,000 per day in the days leading up to the show. I don’t have the count for after the show.
Finally, in fairness, the inn has also made some dramatic changes as a result of the show. As was noted frequently in the broadcast, the inn needed to appeal to, and earn the support of, locals. The new bar that was installed by the Ramsay team offers great food at reasonable prices and the dining room menu has been completely revamped to make it much more affordable. There is even comfortable outdoor seating to enjoy dinner or a drink on a nice evening. I know this sounds like a commercial, but it is important that we support our local businesses and give them a chance to earn our loyalty.
